You may be surprised to learn that new socks are one of the least donated and most highly demanded articles of clothing at charities and shelters across Canada. There is a tremendous need for new socks, for people living on the streets or experiencing poverty.  Clean, new socks are vital to keeping people’s feet dry, warm, and free from disease. We are proud to be part of a philanthropic community that collects Socks for 5 vital giving organizations in Halton and Hamilton, Ontario.

Beverly Caulking is proud to be the main sponsor of Socks for Hope. We’re also proud to deliver topflight caulking services for commercial and residential buildings of all kinds.

Where it all began

Socks for Hope is an independent, non-profit organization that was hatched and fostered some nine years ago by the owners, staff and customers of Burlington Taxi, which for over 50 years faithfully served the people of Burlington and other communities around the western shores of Lake Ontario. Today it is run by partners, Sara Rams and Kendra Marchand.

In the early days, Burlington Taxi started collecting socks in the taxis to help vulnerable friends in need. Finding out socks were in such high demand, made it a perfect fit.

When Account customers started asking to collect socks in their own offices, BT was amazed. Drivers started dropping off sock boxes to customers … and Socks for Hope was born.

Today the wooden crates are a familiar sight throughout Burlington and Hamilton during the holiday season.

Beverly Caulking becomes the main sponsor of Socks for Hope

When Burlington Taxi closed its doors, the principals were determined to keep Socks for Hope running. Scott Wallace and Sara Rams of Burlington Taxi were also part of another family business, Beverly Caulking. The family connection continues!

Beverly Caulking is now proud to continue the legacy as the primary sponsor of Socks for Hope, and jumped in to help with the incredible growth in 2022.  Beverly stepped in to provide more crates, supplies, logistics, and were eager to do the pick ups and drop offs of socks.

The best part was the Socks for Hope Launch! Beverly had the pleasure of supporting and setting up the first ever launch to Socks for Hope at the Festival of Lights in Burlington. This was a great fit, as Beverly has been a main sponsor of this magical light event for years.  With so much excitement generated, and visitors learning about the need for socks, it was a venue that will be repeated in 2023!  Beverly will be there to support!

The Impact

Socks for Hope is a community of over 60 businesses, schools, churches, and local fire and police stations that all host sock boxes to collect socks for organizations that offer support, friendship, and resources to vulnerable friends in Hamilton and Halton. The primary organizations include:

Men’s Street Ministry, Compassion Society of Halton, The Angel Project Canada, The Camisole Project, and Wellington Square Church.

In 2022, SFH collected over 14,000 pairs of socks that were gathered and sorted at Beverly Caulking for distribution to vulnerable communities in need.
