TD Coliseum – Hamilton Arena Renovation Project

Located at 101 York Boulevard in Hamilton, Ontario – TD Coliseum is set to become one of Southwestern Ontario’s premier entertainment destinations. Owned and operated by Oak View Group, the venue is part of Hamilton’s downtown revitalization and has been fully transformed from the former FirstOntario Centre/Copps Coliseum into a modern world-class arena. With state-of-the-art acoustics, premium hospitality spaces, strong accessibility features, and a commitment to sustainability, the venue is designed to host everything from global music legends and comedy acts to community events and family shows.

Paul McCartney officially opened the newly renovated TD Coliseum with a sold-out concert on Friday, November 21, 2025, marking a major milestone for the city and the return of its largest stage.

Scope

  • Caulking throughout the interior & exterior of the facility
  • Caulking at bars, countertops, washroom facilities.
  • Decorative Sealant in the “Star Rooms”
  • Caulking at door frames
  • Firestopping throughout all four levels for architectural, mechanical and electrical services

Fast-Track Completion

One of the main challenges on this project was the tight timeline. With opening night approaching, work had to be completed within a short window while maintaining the standards expected on a major public venue. Our team delivered caulking and firestopping across all four levels, including doors, bars, countertops, and other key areas, working closely with other trades to keep the project on schedule and ready for opening.

Ready for Opening Night

A memorable part of the project was completing work within the artist dressing room and backstage areas as the venue prepared for its first major event. With opening night featuring Paul McCartney just days away, our team worked extended hours to complete the required caulking and firestopping installations. On projects like this, proper procedures and attention to detail are critical. The finishing work must not only meet performance requirements but also be completed to a high standard in areas that will be used by performers, staff, and guests from day one. Delivering quality work under a compressed schedule required planning, coordination, and commitment from everyone involved.

TD Coliseum

An Honour to Celebrate

Before the official public opening, the venue hosted an exclusive, invite-only soft opening concert on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, featuring the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire. This contractor and stakeholder event was an important moment in the project, offering a first look at the fully completed arena and celebrating the collaboration behind its transformation.  It also gave the venue an opportunity to evaluate the services, security and predestination traffic to make sure that opening night to the public would run smoothly.
